Outdoor Cooking at it’s best – Cadac Carri Chef 2
For us, one of the nicest things to do is sit outside the van, relax and cook. It doesn’t matter if it’s early in the morning, a baking hot Summer’s day or wrapped up on a clear Winter’s night watching the stars. Outdoor cooking is a big part of camper life. We needed a Cadac.
From the start, we knew we needed a great and easy solution to outdoor cooking. Of course we can cook in the van, but why have this great vehicle that allows us to be in beautiful locations and sit indoors?
Outdoor cooking is one of the best things about being in a van. Who doesn’t enjoy sitting out with a beer cooking some finger food?
As lovely as a real barbecue would be, it isn’t the most practical thing to carry in a van. We’d need charcoal or lumpwood, firelighters, then there’s the cleaning. Horrible job. No, we would need a gas barbecue and one that was easy to keep clean.
To be honest, we knew what we wanted. Both of our parents have them in their motorhomes, we wanted a Cadac.
With a Cadac, cooking outside is as easy as cooking in a kitchen. A range of cooking surfaces can be used for griddling, frying, boiling a kettle, cooking a curry, even roasting a chicken under its dome. It’s easy to clean and easy to store.
Something that sets the Cadac range apart from it’s competition is the accessories available. There’s a huge range that I won’t bore you about, but they can be seen here:

Actually I will mention one accessory. It’s something I haven’t seen a lot of people use. But’s it’s a godsend.
Have you ever tried frying an egg on a barbecue? Then you’ll know, it’s a pain in the backside if it’s not completely level (as in always). It’s not so bad frying one at a time, but anymore and they always slide together. Cadac have a great answer to this – Tapas dishes:
Anyway, that’s my tip 🙂
As I mentioned earlier, Cadac supply a huge range of barbecues and accessories, so there’s something to suit everyone. We went for the Carri Chef 2 as it’s big enough to cook for 4-8 people at once and comes with everything we wanted. This is ours:
Thanks for reading, David.

With the new van being tight on space, I’m not sure if our Carry Chef will fit. We can’t do without a Cadac, so might have a look at this little beauty 🙂
